The Story: Compact Strength, Unwavering Grip
The Wideloader is the definition of compact strength. It was designed as an everyday utility knife that handles tasks far above its size class. The strategic balance between the short blade length and the generous width provides a forceful, deep cut, while the handle’s length ensures the superior grip and control necessary for safe, confident work. It is the small tool that embodies the principle of Mastery of Resources.
Integrity of Materials & Form
- Blade Form: Forged from high-carbon rasp steel, this short, extra-wide blade (approx. 1.5 times the width of the handle) maximizes cutting surface and leverage. Its dimensions make it perfect for heavy-duty box opening, leatherwork, field tasks, and controlled whittling.
- Handle: Crafted from lightly burned Plum Wood, selected for its density and ergonomic comfort, providing a full, secure purchase that minimizes hand fatigue during heavy cutting.
- The Two-Tone Anchor: The handle is secured with the same dual-bond of epoxy and rivets, but features two-colored aluminum rivets nested in copper pipes. This unique, visible riveting technique ensures maximum handle longevity while celebrating the honest craft of its construction.
- Utility: An exceptional everyday carry (EDC) tool that brings unparalleled power and control to a compact profile.
The Value: Power in Portability
The Wideloader is the ultimate pocket companion for the Practical Craftsman who refuses to compromise on capability. It is a daily tool, built to handle any unexpected challenge with absolute integrity.
🧼 Care and Longevity Instructions
These Artifacts are forged from high-carbon steel—not stainless steel. High-carbon steel holds a superior, long-lasting edge and is far easier to sharpen, which is why we choose it for tools built for honest work.
However, this material requires care: The blade will rust if left wet. To ensure the longevity of your Artifact, always clean the blade immediately after use, dry it thoroughly, and never wash it in a dishwasher (which will quickly destroy the handle and the blade). When storing the knife for long periods, apply a light coat of food-grade oil (like mineral oil or olive oil) to the blade to protect it.
