The Story: A Direct Connection to the Land
The Oak Keeper is the physical manifestation of the principle of using what you have. This blade is a constant, tangible link between the work you do and the land you stand on. While the high-carbon steel is forged from a reliable, reclaimed hoof rasp, the handle is shaped from oak grown right here on the homestead. Every time you grab this knife, you are holding a piece of your foundation. It is designed to be the versatile, multi-purpose tool you instinctively reach for, embodying the principle: Your best tool is the one you can rely on every single day.
Integrity of Materials & Form
- Blade Material: Reclaimed from an authentic, high-carbon steel hoof rasp. The steel holds a durable, keen edge, making it capable of handling the continuous, varied demands of everyday homestead utility.
- Handle: Crafted from homestead-grown oak. This handle carries a personal history, providing a sturdy, comfortable grip that will age beautifully with use, developing a unique, deep patina that tells the story of your shared work.
- Form: A classic, balanced utility shape. Its design is intentionally straightforward, prioritizing comfort, control, and versatility over specialty—the perfect companion for tasks ranging from the workshop to the field.
The Value: The Everyday Workhorse
This is the quintessential everyday multi-purpose knife. It is a workhorse built for constant, honest use. Owning the Oak Keeper is a reminder that the greatest tools are born from necessity and forged with a personal connection to the land and the materials around you.
Owning the Oak Keeper is owning a daily symbol of the TS Homestead Nation’s commitment to self-sufficiency and a direct reminder that the roots of your independence run deep.
Purpose: General everyday carry (EDC), homestead utility, light camp use, and multi-purpose shop tasks.
Note: Due to the high-carbon content, this blade will develop a unique patina over time. The oak handle requires occasional natural oiling to maintain its rich color and durability.
🧼 Care and Longevity Instructions
These Artifacts are forged from high-carbon steel—not stainless steel. High-carbon steel holds a superior, long-lasting edge and is far easier to sharpen, which is why we choose it for tools built for honest work.
However, this material requires care: The blade will rust if left wet. To ensure the longevity of your Artifact, always clean the blade immediately after use, dry it thoroughly, and never wash it in a dishwasher (which will quickly destroy the handle and the blade). When storing the knife for long periods, apply a light coat of food-grade oil (like mineral oil or olive oil) to the blade to protect it.
